Project description
- NAME : Tuulik and Tuugaalik

- DELIVERY : 2015
- SERVICES USED : Construction
Tuulik and Tuugaalik are two identical tugs custom designed to pull barges in the Arctic Ocean, largely for the purpose of delivering goods to northern villages.
Safer and more powerful
Pleased with our work on the Qimu in 2006 and a few barges afterward, our client NEAS Inc. contacted us nine years later to request two new tugs: Tuulik (“loon”) and Tuugaalik (“narwhal”).
We took our experience from the first boat and went back to the drawing board to come up with an improved design that was better suited to the realities of the far North. These utilitarian vessels are smaller and can handle more complex maneuvres. We also widened the working deck to make it safer.
Finally, the tugs have squarer hulls, which made construction easier for us and lowered costs for the client.
